This Weekend in St. Petersburg: June 16-17
We're really excited about FIFA coming up and all the new guests it brings to our city! Besides the football, there are many other great events that will take place in St. Petersburg this weekend!
The Peter and Paul Fortress is one of the most scenic locations in all of St. Petersburg, and one of the most tourist-heavy, as well. But those who want a taste of the fortress at night can take a night tour of the Peter and Paul Fortress from 10 pm till 11:30 pm on June 16. Don’t miss out on the opportunity to enjoy a magnificent view of the city and see a different kind of fortress, without crowds of tourists. Entrance fee is 1,200 rub.
If you’re looking for some cultural experience, make sure to check out the exhibition of high-quality reproductions of Bosch and Bruegel’s works at the Etagi creative space. The purpose of the exhibition is to get visitors acquainted with the artists’ style and techniques, as well as help them understand the plot of some of the most famous paintings. Almost every painting has a detailed description in Russian and English. Entrance fee is 200 rub.
Several cinemas in St. Petersburg screen recordings of stage plays from New York’s Metropolitan Opera, the London National Theatre, and many other renowned venues. This is a unique opportunity to see all-time classics on the big screen. Among this week’s highlights are Hamlet with Benedict Cumberbatch and Giuseppe Verdi’s Luisa Miller on Sunday, and a performance of Macbeth by the Royal Shakespeare Company on Friday night.
The Lambada Market Fair in New Holland on June 16 is yet another cool event that you might like. Here, you can not only buy various designer clothes, books, handmade accessories and souvenirs, but also try delicious food and listen to live music. Entrance is free.
