  • ITMO.DoBro Challenge: University Joins International Charity Day

    This week, more than a 100 countries across the world will celebrate International Charity Day. Despite this being only the second time that Russia participates in it, it is already quite popular here. ITMO University has joined the initiative, too. On November 28, ITMO.DoBro initiative begins. Any participant will be able to not only support the university’s projects aimed at developing both research activities and ITMO’s infrastructure in general, but propose their own ideas, as well. The most active participants will receive gifts and awards.

  • Artur Khanov: I Can’t Even Imagine A Profession That Gives You This Much Freedom

    On Tuesday, November 7, the registration period for the National student competition “I’m a Professional” begins.This is the first event of such kind in Russia that’s been organized jointly by representatives of business, industry, and universities. The competition is conducted in 27 categories, three of which - computer and information sciences, informational cybersecurity and photonics - are supervised by ITMO University. The winners have the opportunity to enroll in Master’s and PhD programs of Russian universities on a tuition-free basis. We’ve decided to ask some of the recurring winners of professional competitions about creating one’s unique educational path and the opportunities that are not to be missed during one’s university years. Today, we publish Artur Khanov’s story - he is one of the first participants of the CTF movement in Russia, a CEO and Skolkovo resident since his PhD years who’s now successfully combining teaching and working on his personal projects.

  • Prime Minister Medvedev Announces Start of ITMO Highpark Construction

    During the “Open Innovations” forum, on October 17, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev announced the start of construction at ITMO University’s new campus in the south of St. Petersburg – JSC "ITMO Highpark". The corresponding directive was published on the website of the Russian government. The joint-stock company "ITMO Highpark", with 100% shares owned by the state, will act as the operator of the largest scientific, educational, innovative and industrial cluster in the south of St. Petersburg.

  • QS World University Rankings: ITMO Among Top 2% of World’s Universities

    ITMO University has made its debut in QS World University Rankings, placed 601-650 in the global ranking. This year the QS company evaluated more than 4,300 higher education institutions for its ranking, of which 980 have ended up in the final list – 62 more than last year. There are approximately 26,000 universities in the world, meaning that ITMO University is among the world’s top 2%. This spring, ITMO University also made its debut in QS’s Subject Rankings being placed 351-400 in two subjects: Computer Science & Information Systems and Physics & Astronomy.
