• How to Get a Job in Game Development

  The long-awaited Russian videogame Atomic Heart is embroiled in controversy. It wasn’t long ago that the game’s trailer racked up over 500,000 views on YouTube – a near-unprecedented number for a Russian game – but some of the game’s developers have anonymously complained of unnecessarily rough management at the studio and constant, unpredictable firings. We spoke to members of the Russian GameDev community, educators, and partners of ITMO University’s Master’s program ‘Game Development Technologies’ to find out if the rumors about Atomic Heart have any weight to them, and how newcomers to the industry can avoid such situations.

• City of Professions: Career Day at ITMO University

  Last week, ITMO University hosted a major career event - ITMO.City of Professions. This time, 40 participating companies prepared a 5-hours long interactive program for the university’s students and graduates, as well as offered internships and employment for entry-level positions. It has also become the first event of this kind for which the university’s specialists developed a dedicated application - the interactive online map of the city that helps to find a particular company and learn about the positions it offers. ITMO.City of Professions covered five major professional fields: IT, management and innovations science, food industry and biotechnologies, robotics and engineering, and photonics. Apart from the companies that had already taken part in ITMO’s career events before (Sberbank, Sberbank-Technologies, Delovie Linii, Diakont, Veenam and others), several new employers offered students jobs this time. • Inclusive Education – not a One-Way Street: How to Educate Everyone on Equal Terms

  Not everyone understands the concept of inclusiveness. This is the process of including children with special needs into regular education and employment. Russian universities are now developing centers for inclusive education in accordance with the law. However, there is still a lack of common understanding on how to implement inclusiveness and what is needed for this, experts noted at the conference "Inclusive Education at the University: Constraints or New Opportunities", which was held at ITMO University on 12 and 13 April.

• #ITMOCODE: Competition for Vacant Posts for Professors and Lecturers

  ITMO University has launched the latest installment of the competition for its academic staff and job seekers. This year marks the first time that the competition is held according to ITMO’s Road Map for the 5-100 Russian Academic Excellence Project and the university’s own educational standards. What makes this competition truly special is that it follows the university’s unique “code” represented by the formula V+F+PS+SS, where V stands for Values, F for Fundamental, PS for Professional Skills and SS for Soft Skills.
