  • From 3D-Printed Homes to Next-Gen Energy Storage: ITMO Fellow Maxim Arsentev on Symbiosis of Physical Chemistry and IT

    According to reports by the analytics company GlobalData, the global 3D printing industry will reach $36 billion by 2025 and $70 billion by 2030. With the help of additive technologies, it is now possible to print complex structures quickly, inexpensively, and on the spot – that includes prosthetics, car parts, or even sections of buildings. But to make such products sturdier, manufacturers need to identify the right material and design of the cell scaffolds – the “building blocks” of the technology. This is precisely the focus of Maxim Arsentev, a researcher at ITMO and a laureate of the ITMO Fellowship program. Speaking to ITMO.NEWS, he explains his career path and how IT tools are benefitting the field of physical chemistry.

  • ITMO to Train Lecturers for St. Petersburg’s First IT School

    The new partnership was announced at a press conference on the construction of the first state-owned IT school in the city, held by the Government of St. Petersburg, ITMO University, and Arsenal Group. ITMO University has developed a concept and training program for teachers at the school with a view to continue implementing professional training programs for educators. Through these initiatives, the university will provide comprehensive training for young staff of new schools.

  • ITMO & Yandex Education Launch Free Intensive Course in IT for Students

    A two-week intensive study camp in industrial software development will be held in St. Petersburg from June 24 to July 6. At lectures delivered by experts from ITMO and Yandex Education, participants will delve into the architecture and infrastructure of highload systems, information security, and DevOps. Each participant will work on tasks tailored to their level and receive a certificate of completion upon successfully solving the final case. Applications are accepted until May 1.

    Recently, the Minister of Education of China, Huai Jinpeng, paid a visit to St. Petersburg. During a meeting at ITMO University, Rector Vladimir Vasilyev suggested the establishment of a Russian-Chinese AI alliance. This organization will provide opportunities for cooperation between the best professionals of both countries and provide applied solutions for education, medicine, and industry. Within the alliance, the leading universities of both countries will be jointly training AI professionals and conducting research in the field.
