At this highly interactive exhibition, visitors embark on a gaming journey spanning over decades, with a plethora of playable exhibits, from 8-bit classics to modern-time faves, and immerse themselves in video game history and culture.

Knowledge Day at Hermitage Museum

This Friday, September 1, Russia celebrates Knowledge Day – the holiday that marks the end of summer and the start of a new academic year. And what’s the best way to welcome the new year at school if not by soaking up some culture and art in the halls of the State Hermitage Museum, especially since entrance is free for students on this exact day? Our exhibitions of choice include Tsars and Knights. Romancing with the Middle Ages; OTMA and Alexei. The Children of the Last Russian Emperor; Russian Style. From Nicholas I to Nicholas II; and Arnold Böcklin, Carlo Böcklin: Isle of the Dead.

Podpisnie Izdaniya birthday party

This weekend, bookstore and cultural hub Podpisnie Izdaniya is celebrating its birthday in a big way with an insightful lecture program, live music, a pop-up bar, and an after-hours culture fix. On September 2, the store will be open till two past midnight, letting you experience the place of power of all bookworms after dark – with a 5% discount on everything as a nice bonus.

STARCON

Con veterans and pop culture enthusiasts are set for a fun-packed weekend at STARCON – a celebration of all things geek: movies and series, books, comics, and games. This year’s festival will feature an eclectic program, from celebrity guests to cosplay shows, from space mini-golf to board and role games – and a variety of fan stalls for everyone to enjoy. One of the stalls will be occupied by members of the ITMO Impact club – our avid fans of Genshin Impact.

Views of St. Petersburg Suburbs is a collection of engravings and lithographs showcasing the urban sprawl of St. Pete in retrospective, with its historical and cultural events, as well as lush green cityscapes and characteristic buildings.

Leningrad underground: Sveshnikov

A new exhibition celebrating the works of Sergey Sveshnikov, a vivid representative of Leningrad underground culture and a key figure in St. Pete photography, is opening at ROSPHOTO this September. The display of 200-something vintage images includes monochrome photographs hand-colored by the master, photo chronicles of famed creative groups and musicians, and bromoil portraits – with some items being displayed for the first time.

On the big screen: Rigoletto

Next Wednesday, the sensational production of the classic opera Rigoletto by Philipp Stölzl that thrilled the audience with not only vocal and acting performances and authentic costume designs but also a jaw-dropping setting (a floating stage and a gigantic clown puppet) will be screened in Rodina Cinema. The screening will be in Italian with Russian subtitles.
