ITMO Rector Vladimir Vasilyev Appointed to Russian Science Foundation’s Supervisory Council
On December 13, 2018, the Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree confirming the new line-up of the Russian Science Foundation’s Supervisory Council. Among the Council’s 15 members is Vladimir Vasilyev, the Rector of ITMO University.
The Supervisory Council, headed by Presidential Advisor Andrei Fursenko, will operate in its new line-up for the next five years. In addition to ITMO University’s Rector Vladimir Vasilyev, the Council’s staff now also includes: the director of the Special Astrophysical Observatory Yuri Balega, State Duma deputies Nikolai Govorin and Mikhail Emelyanov, the director of National Medical Research Center for Endocrinology Ivan Dedov, the President of the Institute of World Economy and International Relations Alexander Dynkin, the Russian Minister of Science and Higher Education Mikhail Kotjukov, the Rector of Pirogov Russian National Research Medical University Sergei Lukyanov, the head of RAS Institute of Archaeology Nikolaj Makarov and senator Viktor Smirnov.
The Foundation for Support of National Fundamental Science was founded in November 2013 by a presidential decree. Its activities are regulated by a special federal law. The Supervisory Council makes decisions on the rules regarding selection of programs and projects supported by the foundation, instates members of expert councils, and carries out other administrative functions for the RSF.
Annual reports on the Foundation’s work are submitted to the President and the Russian Government.
