Five Ways to Survive Autumn

It’s mid-October. Not the happiest time of year. Everything seems too cold, too dirty, too dark, too bad. However, you always have me to inspire you and cheer up. Here’s my Autumn survival kit. There are no contraindications; consultation with a specialist is not required.

1. Take a walk

If it’s not raining, I try to find a beautiful park on the weekend where I can go for a 30-minute walk on the weekend. It may be cold but it’s so beautiful outside, the treesare painted in all shades of red, yellow and orange and the ducks are still around. Moreover, the scientists have proven that nature has a positive effect on the brain. So the best way to have a rest in between studying or working is to leave your mobile at home, go out, watch the forest or animals and breathe deeply.

2. Have a rest and watch a movie

If it’s raining and I don’t feel like doing anything, I let myself be a little lazy. I like to have a cup of tea or hot chocolate, download my favorite Autumn movie and be extremely lazy. A few hours break (from doing something serious) doesn’t hurt but you’ll feel a lot better, I promise! Neuroscientists claim that our brain processes information even in the passive phase, so all the knowledge and brilliant ideas are still there, being processed, so no worries!

3. Cook something delicious

My favorite part of the cold season is cooking, especially baking! You officially don’t have to worry about wearing a bikini for about 6 months (unless you’re planning to spend winter holidays in Thailand) so you can eat as much as you want! Cupcakes, cookies, pies, pumpkin casserole, etc. I like to choose an interesting recipe, invite some friends over and have fun! Oh, those smells and heat from the oven! It’s also a great chance to explore those healthier recipes, gluten free, sugar free and whatever else "free"!

4. Visit relatives

Whenever I feel devastated and depressed I visit my relatives. We gather around the dinner table and chat endlessly. Sometimes we visit our friends who have a fireplace, and those evenings are magical! I love spending time with my family, I always forget all the problems that bother me at that moment and relax.

5. Create atmosphere

In the beginning of the cold season, I always buy new candles and body butter. My friend always changes her desktop wallpaper. There is a bunch of ways to change your mood: colors, smells, visuals. You should simply do something that inspires you personally, maybe even something that only you understand.

Remember: the glass is always half full!
