ITMO University Enters Times Higher Education BRICS & Emerging Economies Rankings

For the first time, ITMO University placed in Times Higher Education (THE) BRICS & Emerging Economies Rankings, taking 27th position worldwide and 4th in Russia.

Times Higher Education is a UK-based publication providing global education coverage.

The BRICS & Emerging Economies University Rankings uses the same methodology as THE World University Rankings with 13 performance indicators grouped into teaching (learning environment), research (volume, income and reputation), citations (research influence), international outlook (staff, students, research), and industry income (knowledge transfer). The ranking only includes universities in countries classified as "advanced emerging", "secondary emerging" or "frontier" by FTSE.

ITMO University Rector Vladimir Vasilyev commented: "Our high position in the rankings is the result of our winning strategy to develop our unique education and research profile in close cooperation with industrial partners, to increase the number of publications with high impact factors and diversify our research."

Earlier this year, ITMO University placed in THE World University Rankings for the first time in the 351−400 group and was ranked #3 in Russia.
