For freshers

Though most internships are aimed at at least third-to-fourth-year Bachelor’s students, there are some companies who are ready to collaborate with younger students as well.

JTI

JTI is the leader in the Russian tobacco market and the largest FMCG company in Russia by retail sales. The holding includes such international brands as Winston, LD, Camel, Mevius, Glamor and Sobranie.

As part of Career Day, the representative of JTI shared with ITMO students about their internship program Jump to Begin, aimed at first- and second-year Bachelor’s students specializing in various fields, from management to IT. The program is scheduled for February and lasts for two weeks. Apart from this, there is a separate competition for students studying robotics, who can try their hand at solving real-life tasks as part of the Make it Bright internship program.

“The Jump to Begin internship is organized as follows: in the first half of the day, heads of different departments come to interns and share about their work, and after lunch, students visit different departments within the company in order to find what interests them the most. I am an ITMO University graduate and a developer myself, but when I did this internship, I realized that this was not particularly my cup of tea. As a result, I now work in the field of personnel training and development in the HR department. The company gave me an opportunity to try my hand in another area, so that I could understand what kind of work I really enjoyed,” shares Kirill Gubarev, an employee of the JTI HR service.

“There are quite a lot of ITMO University graduates working for our company. Most of them came to us to do an internship in their second year at the university and combined their studies and work, and then joined us after they graduated. Since our program is not limited to a particular time of the year, we accept applications on a rolling basis and, depending on our needs, offer internships in different departments. We discuss the duration of an internship with each candidate individually, but the general condition to be eligible for participation, in addition to specialized education, is a good command of the English language. In general, we are now looking for developers, testers and technical support specialists,” shares Karina Larionova.
