GenerationS attracts the best startup projects from all over Russia as well as largest private investors, industrial and venture funds' representatives. The Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation supports the accelerator, its' partners are SAP, Raiffeisen Bank, the Russian Venture Company, QIWI, VISA, IBM, VTB24, Rostelecom and other companies that look for new technological solutions. This gives participants an opportunity to choose from different fields — they can work on projects related to agrobiotechnology, creative technologies, mining industry, energetics, natural sciences, finances, "smart city," technet and others. It means that future entrepreneurs can find and investor or a mentor, make useful contacts and introduce their products into the market with the assistance of the largest companies.

This year, over 2,500 people submitted their applications. First of all, those who had been selected took part in local pre-acceleration programs. They followed online and offline courses, then developed prototypes. Next spring the participants will work under the guidance of their mentors. At the beginning of summer, 2017 they will present their projects to corporate partners. The best ones will continue partnering with revelvant industries. ITMO is one of partners of GenerationS, its experts teach startupers who made the best projects and were selected after the pre-acceleration level.

The DemoDay will be the final event of the program — authors of the top ten projects will make their presentations.

The first day of an offline module at ITMO University was marked with presentations by participants. There are some of them:

Plastic instead of concrete

The BlebSlab project offers a solution for building industry. Over 35% of concrete detailsin frame houses don’t bear any functional load. The startupers know how to make house building process cheaper and more effective — they developed light plastic substitutes which can improve engineering and acoustic characteristics of monolithic buildings.

A robot agriculturist

The new robot will allow to decrease the consumption of fertilizers. The system will control a state of each plant using a computer vision technology. Chemical agents will be used if only the plant is liable to a disease. The technology will also prevent agriculture from human mistakes.

Faster MRI scanning

The developers of this startup plan to make MRI technologies more accessible. Currently, one has to wait for months to get free MRI diagnostics covered by the free medical care sector or has to pay lots to get the procedure at a private medical center. The main reason is that MRI scanning takes a lot of time. The engineers plan to make radiofrequency coils used in MRI equipment more effective.

Outdoor Wi-Fi

Indoor Wi-Fi systems are not enough for modern people. Russian engineers want to equip outdoor lighting systems with new Wi-Fi devices.

A high-tech spy

A new application can pick up information about a person from his or her accounts on different social media networks. According to its authors, it makes a problem for fans to pick up information about a celebrity from various sources. It will be much more easier to do that using the app.

A graphic design community

The ArtShok project offers new solutions in 3D modeling and Virtual Reality fields. A team from St. Petersburg plans to launch an edutainment center for graphic designers and specialists in allied disciplines.

The total amount of teams is 26. The participants will attend lectures and workshops of GenerationS till the middle of December.
