  • ITMO PhD Students Share Their Impressions of Internship in Singapore

    In the course of nine months, from October 2018 to July 2019, Oksana Severyukhina and Ivan Derevitsky, PhD students and staff of ITMO University’s National Center for Cognitive Technologies, did an internship at the Nanyang Technological University in Singapore. The internship gave them an opportunity to work on their projects at one of the world’s most technologically advanced university campuses, as well as travel a lot and establish some useful connections.

    To be successful, you need both professional competencies and soft skills, also known as interpersonal or social skills. Ranked as one of the world’s leading universities, the Nanyang Technological University (NTU) in Singapore launched the Preparing You For the Working World summer school for students from all over the globe. The event is aimed at teaching students valuable soft skills like teamwork, leadership and management skills, and other soft skills. ITMO University and the NTU are already collaborating on academic mobility programs, which gave this year's graduate student Anastasia Volkova, who is going to continue her professional career at ITMO, an opportunity to take part in the summer school.   • ITMO and NTU to Collaborate on Academic Mobility Programs

    ITMO University was recently visited by a delegation from Nanyang Technological University (NTU). The main topic of the conversation between the two universities was the development of academic mobility programs. As of today, ITMO and NTU are already working together on research in predictive modeling and translational technology. In near future, the partners intend to strengthen their partnership in the area of student mobility.

    In future, social networks could make advertisers’ work much easier. Big Data analysis algorithms can already figure out the ins and outs of a customer’s personality. They can be used to track negative reviews, determine the customers’ desires, identify their psychological type and tailor advertisements according to each customer’s data. A group of Master’s Degree students from the Computer Technologies Department have studied this topic at the National University of Singapore. They have told us about their research and the pros and cons of living in a city state.
