    From four subjects last year to seven this year, ITMO University is expanding its presence in the prestigious ShanghaiRanking’s Global Ranking of Academic Subjects. Not only is it receiving worldwide recognition but this year ITMO is also the best Russian university in five of these subjects.

  • QS World University Rankings: ITMO University Enters the Global Top-400

    The latest edition of the QS World University Rankings, published annually by the UK company Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), has been unveiled. This year, 1,002 universities from 93 countries were included in the ranking. ITMO University has once again demonstrated growth, entering the list of the world’s top 400 universities.

  • ITMO Named Among Top-5 Universities in Science Popularization

    The Indicator popular science website completed its annual ranking of the quality of university press services. It assessed the results of science popularization by the participants of Project 5-100 in 2019: the number of scientific press releases, the diversity of formats, social media presence and activity, as well as translation of materials to English and their distribution around the world. As with the previous two years, ITMO University made it to the top 5 of the ranking.

  • ITMO University Among Leaders of 5-100 Russian Academic Excellence Project

    On October 25-26, 2019 the Council on Global Competitiveness Enhancement of Russian Universities (Project 5-100) convened for its 12th session in Moscow. Over the course of two days, universities participating in Project 5-100 presented the results of their work and their development plans for the future. Upon conclusion of the session, the project’s participants were sorted into three groups, ITMO University being ranked among the top 7.

  • Academic Exchange, Environmental Studies and Education for All: Representatives of World’s Best Universities Meet For EAIE in Helsinki

    In late September, Helsinki hosted the annual EAIE conference, which was the biggest since its founding, attracting over 6,200 participants from 95 countries. ITMO University was among the world’s best educational organizations. We got in touch with the members of the St. Petersburg EAIE delegation and found out all about the current trends in education that were discussed in Finland.

  • Shanghai Ranking: ITMO University Enters Global Top-100

    Today, on June 26, the Shanghai Ranking Consultancy has announced the results of its annual Global Ranking of Academic Subjects, widely known as the Shanghai Ranking. Having assessed over 4,000 higher education institutions on their performance in 54 academic subjects, the authors of the ranking established the top universities in five academic fields such as Natural Sciences, Engineering, Life Sciences, Medical Sciences, and Social Sciences. ITMO University, which made a big debut in last year’s ranking, entered in the top 100 of this year’s Shanghai Ranking in the Automation and Control subject field, and also secured its position in the Engineering group.

  • ITMO University in Top Group of Project 5-100 Participants

    The Council on Global Competitiveness Enhancement of Russian Universities among Global Leading Research and Education Centers (Project 5-100) has just unveiled the results of its latest session, which took place on October 26-27 in the Russian city of Kaliningrad. In its report to the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, the Council recommended that the Ministry continue providing the 21 higher education institutions participating in the Project 5-100 with financial support. Based on their performance, the participants were divided into three groups with seven universities each. ITMO University made it to top-seven.

  • ITMO University Moves Up in QS BRICS Ranking

    ITMO University has improved its position in this year’s QS BRICS 2018/19 ranking, moving up 11 places and placing 64th in the Top-400. Every year, the ranking evaluates the performance of universities in the five BRICS countries: Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa.

  • ITMO University Secures First Place in Science Popularisation Ranking

    Indicator, a popular science website, has recently published its science popularisation ranking. It has evaluated the effectiveness of PR activities of universities participating in Project 5-100 in 2017. The results were based on a questionnaire survey filled in by staff members of the universities’ PR-departments. ITMO topped the ranking, receiving 193 points out of 195 possible. Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (192 points) and National University of Science and Technology came second and third in the ranking, accordingly (187).
