  • Face to Face Startup: How Participants of ITMO’s Pre-Accelerator Program Improve Events Networking

    Having attended dozens of conferences, developer and designer Ilya Farafonov noticed a common problem: the exchange of contacts after communicating with someone at an event takes too much time. This gave him an idea to develop an app that would help participants of conferences, forums, hackathons and other similar events exchange their contact information quickly and easily.   • Dining with Laureates: ITMO PhD Student Shares His Experience of the Sixth Heidelberg Forum

    Every year, young scientists from all over the world come to the German city of Heidelberg to take part in the Heidelberg Laureate Forum (HLF), a networking event for young mathematicians and computer scientists willing to meet with the world’s leading researchers in these fields. To be allowed to participate, young scientists have to undergo a rigorous selection process, but if you succeed, you are given an opportunity to not only listen to laureates’ speeches but also talk to them in person in an informal setting. Besides, participants can showcase their own ideas and get an expert opinion. Javlon Isomurodov, a PhD student from ITMO’s Information Technologies and Programming Faculty, also partake in the forum. In this interview with ITMO.NEWS, he talks about how the selection process is organized and what opportunities the forum brings to young scientists.

    Participating in one of the world’s best science journalism schools, held annually in the Erice commune in Italy, has already become a tradition for representatives of ITMO University. This year, it was Daniil Shirokov and Ksenia Zhirnova, graduates of the Science Communication Master’s program, who attended the event.   • University of Memphis’ Zabihollah Rezaee on Sustainability and Ethics in Business

    Professor Zabihollah Rezaee, the Thompson-Hill Chair of Excellence and PhD coordinator at the University of Memphis (USA), has given a series of lectures on the topic “Sustainable Business Development, Corporate Management and Professional Ethics” at ITMO University’s Faculty of Technological Management and Innovations. Master’s and PhD students had the unique opportunity to do a two-week international internship without leaving St. Petersburg and attend the course offered at the world’s top universities. Prof. Rezaee spoke to ITMO.NEWS about his course, the growing importance of professional ethics and how networking made him come to Russia.
