  • Participants of BRIDGE Project Share Their Stories and Achievements

    The international project BRIDGE started out as a research initiative meant to explore the possibility of enhancing university graduates’ presence on the labor market by letting them tackle real-life business challenges during their studies. The project has had six sessions since its launch in 2019. That same year, participants from ITMO University got the chance to travel to Finland, Norway, and Murmansk and recently met for the final session at their alma mater. During the week-long event, students attended lectures on entrepreneurship and project management, as well as tried their hand at solving problems faced by business communities.   • Startup Connect: International Schools, Business Competitions, and Russian-Finnish Accelerators

    After almost three years of operation, the Startup Connect, a joint project of Russia and Finland, has come to an end. It is funded by the European Union, the Russian Federation, and the Republic of Finland. During this time, ITMO University and the South-Eastern Finland University of Applied Sciences (XAMK) have organized several startup festivals, international schools, and business camps.

  • Project BizCycle Named Among Winners of Good Communication Award 2019

    The project BizCycle, which aims to promote bike-based and eco-friendly tourism, as well as support small and mid-sized businesses, is a part of the South-East Finland – Russia 2014-2020 Cross-Border Cooperation (CBC) Program. Specialists from ITMO University, which serves as the project’s key partner, manage the initiative and provide it with IT solutions. A year after its launch in 2018, BizCycle received a prestigious award for contributions to internal and external communications during CBC Program’s second annual session in St. Petersburg.

  • South-East Finland – Russia Cross-Border Cooperation Program: How to Get a Grant

    On December 10-11, ITMO University will host an event dedicated to the 2014-2020 South-East Finland – Russia cross-border cooperation program. As part of the event, the stakeholders representing both countries will be able to communicate with the heads of the projects implemented under the initiative’s umbrella and give their feedback. Apart from that, young scientists and students who in the future would like to submit their projects for a grant or gain the support of Finnish partners, will have the chance to ask their more experienced colleagues for advice and exchange contacts with the organizers and representatives of Russian and international delegations.   • Student Entrepreneurial Communities: Finnish and Russian Experience

    Can students organize the region’s largest startup festival? How do student entrepreneurial communities operate in Finland? And how can Finland and Russia cooperate in this field? These were the central questions of a strategic session that has recently taken place at ITMO University as part of the Startup Connect project. During the session, representatives of ITMO and South-Eastern Finland University of Applied Sciences (XAMK) shared their experiences of organizing these communities and discussed the opportunities for the development of joint initiatives in this field.

  • New Technologies for Longevity: Joint Project by ITMO University and European Partners

    This summer, as part of the international cross-border cooperation program “Interreg Baltic Sea Region 2014-2020”, city councils, universities, industrial plants and R&D companies have joined efforts to solve the problem of accessibility for older people in the Baltic region. To improve the situation, participants of the program want to create a range of accessible public spaces for seniors in the cities of the Baltic region. ITMO University, a participant of the BaltSe@nioR 2.0 international project, is responsible for creating VR/AR content for older people, as well as developing special furniture pieces that will allow seniors and people with disabilities to safely use modern technologies (such as VR, videos in the 360 format, etc.) for socializing.

  • ITMO Delegates Discuss the Development of Public Spaces During a Visit to Finland

    ITMO University staff have taken part in the “The Baltics. Sails of the World” visit to Helsinki under the aegis of Startup Connect, a project forming part of the 2014-2020 South-East Finland – Russia cross-border cooperation program jointly funded by the European Union, Finland and Russia. Over the course of three days, the Russian delegation toured Finland’s largest creative spaces and startup hubs and discussed collaborations with the representatives of the region’s business community and administrations.
