Master’s Degree ++: Experts, Organizers and Participants on the Formula for an Ideal Master’s Program
On April 25-27, ITMO University hosted the Master’s Degree ++ conference, which it organized together with the Vladimir Potanin Foundation. The event brought together winners of the Potanin scholarship contest for educators, experts from leading Russian and international universities, representatives of federal and regional agencies, business and nonprofit organizations. Over the course of three days, the specialists participated in discussions and practical sessions aimed at the identification of best practices of implementation of modern Master’s studies. ITMO.NEWS met the organizers and participants to find out what ideas the conference helped to establish, and what are the areas of growth Russian Master’s programs could benefit from exploring.

Master’s Degree ++ Conference: The Plenary Session in Review
The conference “Master’s Degree ++: Coding the Education of the Future” has recently wrapped up in St. Petersburg. Organized by ITMO together with the Vladimir Potanin Foundation, it brought together the winners of the 2018-2019 Potanin scholarship contest, experts from leading Russian and international universities, and representatives of federal and regional government agencies, business and nonprofits. In the course of three days, participants took part in discussions and workshops aimed at identifying the best practices in the implementation of Master’s programs in Russia and worldwide.

English Teachers Unite at NATE Convention
The NATE 2019 Jubilee Convention was held at ITMO University on April 17-19 and brought together nearly 400 English language teachers from around Russia and 20 international guests. The participants met new colleagues and shared their knowledge and inspiration amid the event's warm and welcoming atmosphere.

This year, ITMO University acts as the co-organizer of Vladimir Potanin Foundation’s Vladimir Potanin Foundation’s conference “Master’s Degree++: Programming the Future Education” conference. The event will take place in St. Petersburg on April 25-27 and will bring together the best lecturers for Master’s programs from Russian universities who became winners of the Grant Competition of the Vladimir Potanin Foundation. Among the speakers will be rectors of Russian and international universities, leading researchers and representatives of companies.

APAIE 2019: ITMO University at the Pacific Region’s Biggest Education Event
The 14th Conference & Exhibition of the Asia-Pacific Association for International Education (APAIE) has come to a close in Malaysia. Per tradition, ITMO University was represented at the 5-100 Russian Academic Excellence Project’s exhibition area. Each of the project’s participating universities has its own booth where they can present their programs and informational materials.

Evolutionary Biologist David Seaborg: Science Enriches Our Lives with Fantastic Ideas and Discoveries
When talking about science, David Seaborg says that the music, art, and theater are important in exciting people and catching their interest about science and scientific issues, such climate change and the extinction crisis. A renowned evolutionary biologist and the son of Nobel Laureate Glenn T. Seaborg, David has founded and currently leads the World Rainforest Fund, a non-profit organization dedicated to saving the rainforest and preserving biodiversity worldwide. This year, David Seaborg will speak at the 4th International Conference on the Periodic Table that will take place at ITMO University. We talked to the scientist about the usefulness Periodic Table, the promising potential of alternative energy sources, and why establishing a dialog between politicians and society is so important.

METANANO-2019: World’s Top Scientists to Celebrate 10th Anniversary of Center of Nanophotonics and Metamaterials in St. Petersburg
METANANO-2019, the fourth conference on nanophotonics and metamaterials, will take place on July 15-19, 2019 in St. Petersburg. Participants of the recent NeuroForum-2018 "Brain: Technological Solutions for its Development and Enhancement for the NeuroNet Market" discussed the solutions and equipment that can be used for this purpose. The event was organized by ITMO University and took place at the Tochka Kipeniya (Boiling Point – Rus.) co-working space in St. Petersburg.
