  • Summer Bridge Scholarship by ITMO’s Russian-French Lab: Join an Interdisciplinary Project and Get Your First Scientific Paper Published

    Right after finishing their summer exams, students from ITMO and other universities will have the opportunity to participate in the Summer Bridge Scholarship, a paid internship at ITMO University’s Russian-French Laboratory of Hybrid Crystal Nanophotonics. The organizers will choose a total of 15 interns (Bachelor’s and Master’s students), who will work on fundamental and applied interdisciplinary scientific projects, from developing new types of nanoparticles to creating nanomaterials for long-term storage of foodstuffs and drug delivery. The internship will last for 2.5 months, after which all participants will get a one-time money reward. Other advantages include opportunities to get your article published, experience of working as part of an international team, and enrolling in a joint Russian-French PhD program.   • Internship at Huawei: 5G Networks and Robots in Hotels

    Ten students of ITMO University’s Faculty of Infocommunication Technologies and St. Petersburg State University went to China to take part in a two-week internship at the Huawei company. Apart from getting an insight into modern telecommunication systems, they learned about various configuration devices and the future of 5G communication network systems.   • Gold Nanoparticles and Canadian Science: ITMO Student’s Internship at University of Waterloo

    Ksenia Mosina, a Master’s student at ITMO University’s SCAMT Laboratory, went to Canada as part of her student exchange program to participate in research on the synthesis of gold core-shell nanoparticles for biosensing and photocatalysis.   • Breathing-Checker Belt and Smart Trousers: ITMO Students Explore Health Devices at Tallinn University Winter School

    A winter school in Experimental Interaction Design has recently taken place at Tallinn University. Held on January 14-25, it focused on using technologies for facilitating a healthy lifestyle. Among the school’s participants were Master’s students of ITMO’s Faculty of Software Engineering and Computer Systems Zarina Gabdullazyanova, Svetlana Galoshina, Kristina Barysheva and PhD student Yulia Bezbakh. In the course of their studies, they developed operating prototypes of devices that would help people breathe, clean their teeth and do sit-ups in the right way.   • Different Volunteering, Eco Camps and Fresh Perspective on Things: Belgian Gloria Sagaradze on Interning at ITMO

    Belgian Gloria Sagaradze came to Russia to do a three-month internship at ITMO University’s Student Initiatives Development Office. Among the projects she worked on were collaborating with the organizers of the international ecological camp Ecological Raids held at ITMO’s sports and recreation center Yagodnoye, helping Nigerian students develop an events plan for their student club, and mastering student project management. ITMO.NEWS met Gloria to talk about the difference between volunteering in Russia and Belgium and the valuable lessons she learnt from traveling.
