  • Active Learning: 7 Ways to Increase Students’ Motivation and Engagement

    As part of the ITMO.EXPERT project, ITMO University held a workshop on the strategies of active learning. Participating as speakers were the ITMO lecturers who’d recently completed an internship at Central European University (CEU) in Budapest, Hungary: Anna Balabanova, a tutor at Foreign Language Training Center; Stanislav Kim, an engineer at the Faculty of Control Systems and Robotics; and Ivan Loginov, an assistant at the Faculty of Software Engineering and Computer Systems.   • ITMO Students on Recent Start-Up Internship Program in China

    This July, students of ITMO’s Informational Technologies and Programming Faculty Nikita Losovetin and Nikita Savilov participated in Start-Up China, an internship program for entrepreneurs at the Neusoft University in Dalian, China. In collaboration with their international colleagues, they worked on developing products from scratch, attended workshops, and strengthened international cooperation. The students spoke to ITMO.NEWS about their experience of spending a month in China and participating in an international program for young entrepreneurs.

  • ITMO PhD Students Share Their Impressions of Internship in Singapore

    In the course of nine months, from October 2018 to July 2019, Oksana Severyukhina and Ivan Derevitsky, PhD students and staff of ITMO University’s National Center for Cognitive Technologies, did an internship at the Nanyang Technological University in Singapore. The internship gave them an opportunity to work on their projects at one of the world’s most technologically advanced university campuses, as well as travel a lot and establish some useful connections.

  • PhD Student from MIT on Internship at ITMO, Russian Culture and Science

    Charles Roques-Carmes is a PhD student at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) who works under the guidance of Marin Soljačić, a renowned scientist famous for his research in the field of wireless nonradiative energy transfer and various issues of photonics and electromagnetics. The young researcher came to ITMO for a three-month internship in order to work with scientists from the Research Center of Nanophotonics and Metamaterials. Charles stresses that coming to Russia was a well-thought-out decision: here, not only can he work in a promising research field, but he can also practice his Russian which he has been learning since his school days. In an interview with ITMO.NEWS, he spoke about the specifics of working at ITMO University and why the Russian language can often appear harder than studying nanophotonics.
