  • ITMO Master’s Student Creates Software to Settle Controversial Moments in Hockey

    Dmitry Kukin, a Master’s student from ITMO’s program in Multimedia Technologies, Design and Usability, works at INTV, a company specializing in developing software and TV equipment for recording and broadcasting of sports events, as well as the graphics side of livestreams and stadium screens. As an employee of the company, Dmitry has been working on a project called Meteora-Referee, which will function as a video goal system. ITMO.NEWS asked Dmitry about the project and the current stage of its development.

  • ITMO's First Game Development Graduates on Russian GameDev and Their Careers

    Three years ago, the Master’s program in Game Development Technologies was launched at ITMO University. There are two specializations: Game Design and In-Game Technologies, which includes game engine development and artificial intelligence programming.   • Quadcopter vs. Traffic Safety Inspectors: Researchers Test Drones for Traffic Road Accident Analysis

    Robots are gradually permeating into more and more areas of our daily life: smart cars are at work on storage facilities and production sites, they test delivery services. Researchers in St. Petersburg are designing a mobile autorobotic inspector (MARTI) that will help the State Road Traffic Safety Inspection officers by documenting details of traffic road accidents and detecting traffic code violations. ITMO.NEWS got in touch with Professor Oleg Basov, deputy dean of ITMO’s Faculty of Infocommunication Technologies, to learn why one quadcopter can create a better accident plan than three inspectors, and how MARTI will be able to model traffic road accidents.

  • ITMO Graduate and Evapolar Engineer Alexander Klyavinsh: University Is Crucial Time to Figure Out What You Want to Do in Life

    Five years ago, Alexander Klyavinsh graduated from ITMO University’s Faculty of Control Systems and Robotics. In the course of his studies, he worked as an engineer at a large design bureau but opted to build a career at a startup instead. As part of the team of Evapolar, which even at the start of its operation managed to collect over 100,000 dollars on the crowdfunding platform Indiegogo, Alexander partook in the development of a fundamentally new product; at that point in time, no company on the market offered personal portable air conditioners.
