If you’re an international student at ITMO University, you’re in good company. Today we are welcoming a host of new international students, 430 have been accepted to Bachelor’s programs, 429 in Master’s programs, and 150 international students have just arrived for an exchange semester. In October we’ll welcome over 200 international students to our foundation program. They’ll be joining the nearly 2000 students enrolled at the university studying their Bachelor’s, Master’s or PhD, as well as part of short-term programs

 

Many people who work here were once exchange students too so we know what it’s like - and we’re happy to support you all the way! 

Here’s what you need to do this week:

  1. Subscribe to our social media. This is the easiest and the fastest way to keep updated on what’s happening at ITMO in English: Facebook, TwitterVK, ITMO International Students and Admissions
  2. Get situated. As you’re settling into your life here, you might want to explore our Relocation Tips series: from how to get a cell phone and navigate public transport to how to get help if you get sick.  
  3. Tap into the St. Petersburg vibe. You get to spend the next year in one of the most beautiful cities in the world so you might as well make the most of it! From the best places to eat to awesome museums to guides on architecture and art, we want you to experience St. Petersburg and maybe fall in love it. 
  4. Learn the local ways. You can’t avoid it - Russia’s all around you now - so what if you learn to “do it like a Russian”? Or took a deeper dive into Russian language and Russian literature
  5. Get inspired by other international students. Your peers from around the world regularly share their experiences, successes and failures. You might just find “your people!”
  6. Stay in the know. Check back every Wednesday for the selection of must-do events in our This Weekend in St. Petersburg and wrap up your week with insightful movie reviews and healthy living experiments.
  7. Check out the 2019 Student Guide. The 2019 ITMO Student Guide is here and contains everything you need to know as a newcomer to ITMO! Keep this comprehensive guide handy, and it will surely be of great help to you throughout the year.
