Hello, world!

With these words nearly everything that should be considered as ITMO-related should be started, so that seems like a proper beginning for my kind of diaries here. First, let me introduce myself a bit so you could get some general view of who I am and why do I see the world like this. Hope it would be representative.

My name is Alexander Merkushev, I am doing an Erasmus at Universitat Pompeu Fabra at Barcelona. Actually, that is not a first change in my study field, I have transfered from SPbSU before, so for today I have an experience of studying in three different Universities. The funny thing is I see more correlation between studying in ITMO and UPF, not between SPbSU and ITMO and I would be glad to share some impressions about that later on. My degree is hardly understandable, so let's call it Telematica Engineering as they do here, in Barca. It relates to communications, networks, but also the geoinformatic field. Let it be a short intro, there shall be more words about it, but I don't want to focus on studies now.

Outside the University, there are plenty of things that I am interested in. For instance, I am interested in cars starting from my early childhood. I've learned about twenty car brands at the age of four, had a collection of car models and even had my own kart (which I am selling right now, so if someone is interested in getting a kart for a younger brother — welcome). Today, as I am becoming an old nerd, I do pay attention to unmanned vehicles and autopilots. Plus to cars, I can name music as one of the most inspiring things in my life, too. And I am talking not about getting some extra emotions from not-so-pop-bands or stuff like that, but about receiving extraordinary feelings and enormous influence of the music on my life. Here I consider experiments with the sound, making it more passionate, the magic of transmitting the energy to a listener. One of my old mates was making hip-hop in school and his debut album was called "I hear the way you see" - that thing is true for me as well. Nevertheless, I admit all the types of art, they all are powerful and the passion for making the music and listening to it is just my own preference. For instance, I am trying to transmit my view on surrounding things via my Instagram, as many of us do. I don't mind contemporary art, too, but I guess artists should not forget about Degas' words: "Art is not what you see, but what you make others see", so what I want to explain by this, is that to reach the effect of art, artist should not just express himself anyways, but also annotate it to the consumers of the art. Imho. What else? I would name some general things like bikes, travelling, architecture, cuisines and cultures, history, but I don't wanna focus on that. Some things should stay private, some would be just boring, so I want to refer to them only by explaining my own point of view further.

Let's say a couple of words what do I want to state in my blog? I will manage to make different posts. Some of them could be focused on my own thoughts, some of them could be just as a simple diary, containing only my experience of events, etc. And I will name it a Danish Diary, with reference to everyone from abroad, who recognize me as a Danish person, but not a Russian one. Moreover, I want to concade the motto that was disturbing my mind since the first day in Spain. It refers to a type of saying it and also to a phrase from Deftones' song Cmnd/Ctrl. Here I begin my "Danish Diary. Just because I can"
