The semester at the foreign university is not only about studying

The semester at the foreign university is not only about studying. TU Darmstadt provides a big range of extracurricular activities. Almost everyone can find something interesting.

There is a big list of sport activities available for a student of TU Darmstadt. At the website, you can find about a hundred different offers. The process of applying is quite simple. You just have to choose something you like, fill out a short form. You receive an entrance ticket per email. There is either no payment or just a small entrance fee required for attending sports.

There are some kinds of sports, which are common and will not cause any astonishment. Those are, for example, swimming, volleyball, football. However, there are some kinds of sports, which I have never seen in my life before. For instance, there is a group at the university, which plays Quidditch, a game from Harry Potter movie!

I have tried a lot of different kinds of sports. For example, I went for lacrosse training and practiced driving a unicycle. It was definitely a lot of fun. It was a unique opportunity for me, to get a taste of something new, something that I might not be able to try anywhere else. However, the thing, I appreciate mostly is the swimming pool. It is located pretty close to my dorm, which makes it comfortable for me, to frequently visit it.

As an exchange student, I was also able to take part in some events, organized by the International office. I tried paddling for the first time in Darmstadt. It was an amazing experience! You are able to swim around, resting on the big stable board, enjoying the beautiful landscapes of the southern part of Germany. Furthermore, I visited a rope park. It was really challenging, to fight my way through all the routes, starting from the beginner level and going all the way up to really tough ones. I also hope to take part in the upcoming hiking events, so I could get to know the nature of the Hessen region.

Sports is not the only activity available for the students. There are also dance classes, clubs for interests and a lot more. Students often gather to watch some films, discuss some global issues. I personally visited "language cafe". It is a place, where exchange students come and talk to each other in different languages. In my opinion, it is a nice option for persons, who want to become more confident in terms of the foreign language. Furthermore, you can easily make new friends there. I have broadened my horizons by speaking to people, who live in different foreign countries. Never before have I seen such a diversity of cultures and opinions in one place! It gave me a wider understanding of the world.

Overall, you can always find something interesting for yourself among the wide range of options, offered by TU Darmstadt. I wanted to try a lot of different occupations and I was always welcome to do so. I can say one thing for sure — you can never get bored at the TU Darmstadt.
