After opening ‘’ITMOcourses’’platform in 2013 ITMO University started offering online learning. Back then users could take the Russian-language courses on HTML, robotic technology, graph theory,basic electromechanical systems, JavaScript and PHP.

‘’Since 2014 ITMO University has been participating in the program of raising the competitiveness of the leading Russian universities among the world`s top research and education centers (project ‘’5 in 100’).

That is why the aim of Distance Learning Center is to offer the online educational products globally,’’ Dmitriy Kopylov, the head of multimedia technologies lab of DLC, says.

‘’iversity’’ was founded in 2013 in Germany. It grants access to online courses on technical and humanitarian subjects in English, German, Spanish and Russian languages.  The lectors are the professors from the largest European universities, the members of international non-governmental organizations and some officials.

The certificates of ‘’iversity’’ are valuable for European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System. Owning such a certificate a student can accumulate credits, and thus graduate earlier or transfer to another university.

 Mr. Kopylov notes that ITMO University online course will start in 2016. ‘’iversity’’ is a European platform, that is why the lectures will be in English and in German. Primarily there will be lectures on graph theory, robotic technology andelectronics.

Dmitry Trofimets, the representative of “iversity” in Russia, also mentions: ‘’ITMO University is one of the first Russian research and education centers, which participates in our partner program. We are honored that ITMO University, the six-time programming champion, will use the ‘’iversity’’ platform for the online courses’’.
