November 20-22, 2014 in Dublin a meeting of the working group «Improvements in Physics Teaching - Meeting Future Global Challenges in Physics Higher Education» will be held within the framework of an international academic network «HOPE - Horizons in Physics Education». The ITMO University is the only Russian partner of the network.

The first meeting of the working group of the academic network HOPE «Improvements in Physics Teaching - Meeting Future Global Challenges in Physics Higher Education» will be held in November on the basis of the University of Dublin (Ireland). The purpose of the organization of the working group is the desire of the international scientific community to create conditions to improve the efficiency and attractiveness of teaching physics at universities in Europe, as well as ensuring the competitiveness of physics departments in the global education market.

Scientists, researchers, teachers and graduate students, who are interested in the promotion of physics as a science, and improving the quality of teaching physical disciplines, are invited to participate in the meeting. To participate, you need to register before October 1, 2014.

The ITMO University is actively cooperating in the framework of the project «Horizons in Physics Education», created in order to explore ways to encourage knowledge of the physics and making it more attractive to young people, increasing the competitiveness of physics departments in the global education market, as well as the adaptation of the physics course in accordance with the new requirements of the European economy through innovation and better preparation physics teachers for secondary schools. Among the 100 representatives of the world's leading educational centers from 30 countries of the world Natalia Andreeva, the assistant of the Department of Photonics and Optical Information Technology of the ITMO University, participated in the first annual forum of HOPE, which was held in August at the Physics Department of the University of Helsinki (Finland).

"Participation in the activities of the network HOPE is very important for our universitySergey Kozlov, the dean of the Faculty of Photonics and Optical Information Technology of the ITMO University, said. “Collaboration with the world's leading universities specializing in the field of fundamental and applied physics allows us to develop, demonstrate our own developments and learn the experience of foreign colleagues".

Development of international cooperation is the one of priorities of the ITMO University in the framework of increasing competitiveness in the global education market. Participation of the University in the project HOPE and working group meeting «Improvements in Physics Teaching - Meeting Future Global Challenges in Physics Higher Education» shows the attention to the teaching of basic science and the quest for integration of Russian higher education in the world scientific community.
