May 27, 2014 Nina Yanykina, the head of the innovation activity at the ITMO University, participated in the "Diary of St. Petersburg" on TV "St. Petersburg". She talked about the achievements of the university in the development of "smart" cities.

In a television interview Nina Yanykina noted that today technological solutions of ITMO University are successfully used in the urban environment. Their main goal is to provide citizens of St. Petersburg with safe and comfortable accommodation. Innovations relate to the transport system, housing and communal services and other spheres of life in the city. For example, the ITMO University innovative offers were used to upgrade the dam: experts of the university implemented a software package that allows forecasting floods. Nina Yanykina stressed that the ITMO University is ready to offer other system solutions for the development of the city.

Anatoly Kotov, the chairman of the Committee on Economic and Strategic Planning of St. Petersburg, also participated in the program. In his speech he noted that St. Petersburg, and in particular the ITMO University, is the one of the leaders in the use of IT- technologies in Russia, and developments, introduced in the urban environment, meet the highest standards.

Experts believe that St. Petersburg is on the right path - the path of network partnerships with foreign specialists. Thus, to achieve high results in the development of "smart" city the ITMO cooperates with representatives of the Netherlands, the USA, Finland and other countries.
