ITMO University gets its first QS rating

June 18, 2014 the British company QS Quacquarelli Symonds has published the rating «World University Rankings: BRICS». The ITMO University for the first time took part in the rankings and immediately became the one of the 120 best universities in Brazil, Russia, China and South Africa.

The list of audited institutions of higher education this year included 395 universities, 95 of which are Russian. 53 domestic universities are in the top 200, including the ITMO University, which this year for the first time was ranked. The evaluation was conducted based on the following indicators:

  • academic reputation;
  • reputation among employers;
  • the ratio of the number of students to the number of employees faculty;
  • the percentage of employees with a degree;
  • the number of articles published per one employee faculty;
  • the number of citations per one published article;
  • the proportion of international staff;
  • the proportion of foreign students.

During June, two Russian rating agencies have also published their version of the list of top universities. In the rating of "Expert RA" the ITMO University moved up one position in the raking and traditionally received high scores for the level of research activity and the quality of education, and is now on the 22 place. In the ranking of information agency "Interfax" the University has strengthened its position, beating the nearest competitor, and settled in 17th place, earning high scores on the criteria and level of internationalization of education. Above all experts "Interfax" overall innovation and entrepreneurship at the ITMO University; in this category, the University entered the top ten Russian universities. Release both agencies the ITMO University ranks third in St. Petersburg.

These international and Russian rating agencies indicate that the ITMO University as a participant of the program to improve the competitiveness of Russian universities of the world's leading research and education centers, known as "5 in 100", is successfully working to ensure the most comfortable conditions for Russian and foreign students and teachers , creating a unique environment for the development of science and training world-class professionals.
