May 29, 2014 the final of the all-Russian contest "PROF-IT" was held in Ryazan. During the competition, representatives of regional authorities responsible for informatization, presented projects of new solutions in the scope of electronic government. The winners received the right to act without exams in the magistracy of the ITMO University.

"PROF-IT" is the all-Russian contest for the representatives of public authorities aimed at the development of regional and municipal informatization. The competition is organized by the centre of excellence for electronic government, with the support of the administration of the President of the Russian Federation. The partner of the project is the ITMO University. The ITMO University is one of the leading Russian universities preparing IT specialists for the public sector.

In 2014 specialists from 83 regions of Russia took part in the competition "PROF-IT". In the final authors of 37 projects from 24 regions competed for the victory. Their estimated Igor Shchyogolev, assistant of the President of the Russian Federation; Andrey Lipov, head of information technologies and e-democracy of the Presidential Administration of Russia; Ilya Massukh, President of Foundation for Development of e-democracy and other experts from the federal authorities and the IT community. Winners were named in ten categories, including "IT in health care", "IT in education", "IT in the communication of the state and society", "IT in social support".

Five participants of the contest, whose decisions were recognized as the best by results of voting of the professional jury of the contest will be able to become students of the ITMO University. It’s already known that the winners of the administrations of the Komi Republic, Nizhny Novgorod and Sverdlovsk regions will definitely use this opportunity.

Round table on development of the regional and municipal informatization was held within the framework of the final stage of "PROF-IT". Director of the eGovernment Center of the ITMO University Andrey Chugunov has acted as an invited expert. "It’s very important that colleagues from regions and municipalities have the opportunity to experience the best IT projects for government agencies. Database of best practices of e-government is being formed in Russia thanks to the contest "PROF-IT". Replication of experience and presentation of successful practices are important steps towards the creation of a developed information society. eGovernment Center  for five years worked at the University ITMO. We are always open to dialogue with regions and have realized a number of joint projects",- Andrey Chugunov said.

The eGovernment Center of the ITMO University was created in 2009 with the aim to concentrate intellectual and organizational resources needed to solve the actual tasks of creating and distributing effective solutions for e-government and methods of e-governance. The center provides comprehensive support to the developers of the projects of creation and development of e-government in the Russian Federation.

Master's program "Management of state information systems" enables students to acquire the theoretical knowledge and practical skills of planning, introduction, implementation and analysis of efficiency of projects of development of information systems at various levels of management. Graduates of this program are highly qualified specialists.They fulfill the requirements of the labor market for IT managers and IT directors. Undergraduates can become specialists and bachelors of any technical, humanitarian and natural scientific specialties.
