Description

The "ITMO Goes to the Movies" project is back! ITMO University continues last year's tradition of Sci-Fi cinema screenings in the great company of ITMO.Family.

In the program this time is I Am Mother, a 2019 directorial debut by an Australian filmmaker Grant Sputore.

This Sci-Fi thriller follows the story of Daughter, a girl brought up in a post-apocalyptic bunker by Mother, an android supposed to aid in the repopulation of the epidemics-ridden Earth. One day, their measured way of life is turned upside down by a woman who tells the girl that there are still people extant out there and robots like Mother are not to be trusted. But Mother refuses to let the girl out.

Prefacing the film will be a discussion in which Valery Chernov, third-year student at the Faculty of Control Systems and Robotics, will be joined by a moderator to weigh up the ethical aspects of human-robot interaction: what was before, what we have now and what we're to expect in the future.

The film will be in Russian, but watch this space as the next screening will have English subtitles!
