Description

ITMO University presents a brand new lecture course called "Open Fintech".

Given by leading experts in the field of financial technologies, "Open Fintech" is a course of lectures spilling the light on how we as everyday consumers make purchases, manage finances, and decide on investments. The six-part series will allow you to learn about the ins and outs of the payment industry, how its decisions are made, and what changes await it in the future.

Held on April 11, the fourth lecture in the series will moot the topic of "Financial technologies and decision-making: why economic agents don't act rationally".

The lecture gives an introduction to behavioral economics, a field for groundbreaking works in which a psychologist and economist Daniel Kahneman was awarded the 2002 Nobel Prize in Economics. Integrating aspects of psychology, neuroscience and microeconomic theory, behavioral economics describes how economic agents make their decisions and why these aren't always as rational as conventional economics wants them to be. This knowledge will help participants increase their understanding of economic processes and the reasons behind their own decision-making.

The lecture will be given by Maksim Korotkov, a graduate of ITMO University and an MBA of Vlerick Leuven Ghent School of Management. Having worked as a delivery group manager at OpenWay Group, a top-ranking global software vendor, he is currently working as a payment practice manager at FIS Global (Belgium). The expert has a ten-year record of successful work in the payment industry, with a multitude of completed projects in Europe, Africa and the Middle East and seven years worth of management of a high-level consultancy team.
