On November 2 at 6pm, ITMO University will host an open lecture by Gary Hix, head of the Wolverhampton School of Sciences and professor at the University of Wolverhampton (the UK).

In his lecture on 'New Materials Design', Dr. Hix will talk about the latest developments in the design of materials that can be used for luminiscence and antimicrobial purposes. He will focus on organic-inorganic hybrid materials, metal phosphites and oxides, as well as the techniques for procducing these materials. Prof. Hix will also discuss how the choice of metal impacts the changes in luminescent response and how to construct the such materials on the atomic level. Touching on antimicrobial materials, the lecturer will explain how structures influences the educing of active materials and how to create a metal that therapeutic effect.
